End-of-Life Doula Services
My role as an End-of-Life Doula is to ease fear, reduce overwhelm, and help create a death experience that feels aligned, peaceful, and true to you. I support individuals and families, walking alongside you through the entire journey:
-
Before death: End-of-life planning, legacy work, early conversations, spiritual preparation
-
At the moment of death: Presence, vigil support, and calm accompaniment, sacred space-holding
-
After death: Remembrance, ceremony, ritual, and grief support for loved ones
Death is not a single moment, but a process — and care is most powerful when it is continuous.

End-of-Life Doula Services are offered at $95 per hour.

The Importance of Connecting Early
Many people think a Death Doula is only for the final days of life but the truth is, the earlier you connect, the more meaningful and supportive the experience can be. By beginning the relationship before a crisis, you create space for clarity, intention, and emotional ease so when death approaches, you and your loved ones feel prepared, supported, and held.
Working together early allows you to:
-
Plan with intention: Create meaningful legacy projects, and care plans at your own pace.
-
Reduce stress for loved ones: Your family can lean into support instead of navigating uncertainty alone.
-
Build trust and comfort: Our relationship grows over time, so you feel fully supported when it matters most.
-
Explore emotional and spiritual needs: Process grief, fears, or unresolved feelings in a safe, gentle space.
-
Integrate Reiki energy healing: Find emotional balance long before heightened stress or illness.
-
Access practical guidance: Learn about rituals, home deathcare, or MAiD preparation in a calm, informed way.

The Way Through package pricing aligns with the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Death Benefit which is a one-time payment of $2,500 to the estate of a deceased person who made sufficient CPP contributions.

Frequently Asked Questions
✧ What does a Death Doula do?
A Death Doula is a trained companion who offers emotional, spiritual, and practical support before, during, and after death. Much like a Birth Doula helps a person transition into this world, Death Doulas help people transition out of this world. I offer emotional, physical, and spiritual support (to both the individual and their loved ones) creating a peaceful, dignified space for the dying process.
✧ How can a Death Doula’s services benefit me?
A Death Doula's support can ease the stress of end-of-life transitions by creating safe space for discussions, planning and honouring the process. This compassionate care helps create meaningful moments and a dignified dying experience.
✧ When is a Death Doula usually hired?
A Death Doula's services are most beneficial when they begin long before death is imminent. Starting early gives us time to build trust, explore your wishes, and create a customized care plan for you. Due to the depth of this work and to ensure the highest level of care, I limit my end-of-life doula caseload to 5 clients at a time. If you are considering end-of-life support, I encourage you to book a free discovery call to get the conversation started. Connecting ahead of time increases the likelihood that I’ll be available to support you when you need it most.
✧ How long does a Doula-Client relationship last?
Doula relationships are flexible and time-bound, shaped by a client’s needs and stage of life. Most doula–client relationships last weeks to months, and less commonly may extend up to a couple of years when support begins early and continues gradually over time. Some clients seek short-term support for Advance Care Planning or clarifying wishes, while others engage more ongoing support as illness progresses or as they approach end of life.
✧ Can a Death Doula be my healthcare representative?
No. In British Columbia, a healthcare representative (or substitute decision-maker) is a legal role with authority to make medical decisions when a person cannot. This role can last many years and carries ongoing availability and legal responsibility, sometimes decades into the future. A Death Doula is usually hired for a finite amount of time. We can help clarify your values, wishes, and goals for care, guide you through Advance Care Planning, offer emotional, spiritual, and practical support, but it is outside the scope of a Doula’s role to make legal decisions for clients.
✧ What if I don’t have family or children?
You are not alone — this is very common. Many people without close family successfully plan for end-of-life care by creating a clear Advance Care Plan, naming a trusted friend, neighbour, or community member, and relying on strong documentation to guide medical teams. A well-written Advance Care Plan can speak powerfully for you, even if no representative is immediately available.
✧ Can a Death Doula help me access Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)?
A Death Doula provides non-judgmental support and guidance for individuals navigating end-of-life decisions, including those considering MAiD. While it is not within a Doula’s scope to encourage or persuade a client toward any particular choice, I can provide information and direct you to the appropriate resources to ensure you have access to accurate and compassionate support. My role is to honour your autonomy and offer emotional, spiritual, and practical assistance throughout the journey. If you have already been approved for MAiD, I can help you envision what you want your final days to look like and support you in carrying out those wishes. If agreed upon in advance, I can be present with you on your final day and support your loved ones through the MAiD provision and afterwards.
✧ How do I know if your services are right for me?
I offer a complimentary discovery call to answers any questions you have about my Doula services and to help determine whether working together feels like the right fit.
