Meet Maïa
Maïa Mercure is a Death Doula, Shamanic Reiki Master, and Community Educator based in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. Through her practice, Between Realms, she supports individuals and families through life's most profound transitions—from preparing for the end of life, tending grief, and moving through deep personal transformation.
Her work is rooted in both lived experience and extensive professional training. After losing her father suddenly at the age of six, Maïa developed a profound awareness of mortality and the importance of compassionate presence during life's most difficult moments. That early experience, together with the peaceful bedside passing of her grandmother years later, inspired a vocation devoted to accompanying others through life's sacred thresholds.
Today, Maïa's practice integrates evidence-informed care with an understanding that birth, death, healing, and transformation are not simply life events—they are deeply meaningful experiences that can reshape who we are. Whether accompanying someone through the final stages of life, supporting a medicine journey, or offering Reiki, she creates a grounded, compassionate space where people feel deeply seen, supported, and empowered.
Maïa has completed extensive professional training with organizations such as the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA), Doula School International, the Centre for Sacred Deathcare, and TheraPsil. She is a Willow End-of-Life Educator® and has been a dedicated hospice volunteer for several years. Maïa facilitates Soul Talks: Living Well, Dying Well, a workshop series fostering meaningful conversation around mortality and building death literacy within her community.
Grounded in integrity, curiosity, and compassion, Maïa is committed to restoring birth and death as sacred, community-held experiences while honouring each person's unique values, beliefs, and lived experience.

In additional to these training programs, I have contributed over 400 hours of community service to my local hospice organization sitting bedside with patients as they’ve taken their last breaths, offering Reiki to palliative clients and grieving families, and facilitating Advance Care Planning sessions and Death Cafés.
This depth of training and experience ensures that the support I offer is ethical, informed, and safe, while remaining deeply human and heart-centred.

Alongside lived experience, I bring extensive professional training across birth work, end-of-life care, psychedelic facilitation, energy healing, and trauma-informed support. This ensures that the care I offer is both deeply human and grounded in current best practices.

As someone who is both highly intuitive and neurodivergent, I naturally notice subtle emotional shifts and unspoken needs. This allows me to meet each person with sensitivity while tailoring my support to what they need most in the moment.
